Abstract [eng] Malinauskienė, Ž. (2022). Electronic health system services: the involvement of pharmacists in the improvement of electronic services. Master’s thesis. Vilnius University, Šiauliai Academy, Institute of Regional Development, Šiauliai. SUMMARY This Master’s thesis analyses the impact of employee involvement in the improvement process of e. health system’s service – e. prescription. The aim of the thesis is to reveal employee involvement in the improvement of electronic health services after conducting the analysis of theoretical aspects of employee involvement in work and electronic health services. Theoretical part is based on Lithuania’s and foreign scientists’ insights on factors of employee involvement in work processes, ways of encouraging employee involvement, their impact on the company and individual employees. Also on the need for the appearance of e. health system, its benefits and the need to improve system services, the role of employees in engaging into the improvement processes of e. health services. Lithuanian legislation works of Lithuanian and foreign scientists, scientific articles dealing with these topics are also analysed. The thesis consists of three main parts. The first part reveals theoretical substantiation of electronic health services – the involvement of pharmacists in the improvement of electronic services, where the definition of an electronic health system is provided, as well as the need and benefits of the appearance of e. health services. Moreover, insights of scientists on the significance of employee involvement in work, the involvement caused by inclusion, the effect of the involvement on the company, work processes and employees personally. The second part deals with research methodology of the involvement of pharmacists in e-health system’s subsystem – e-prescription improvement, providing justification of research methodologies and instruments, sample survey, ethics and research organization. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to the presentation of the situation of the involvement of pharmacists working in the pharmacy network “Camelia” in the entire Lithuania into ways of using and improving e-prescription. A quantitative method of questionnaire survey was used. The goals were to analyse the participation of pharmacists in starting using e-prescription; specific actions of pharmacists in order to be involved into the use of e-prescription and the improvement of e-prescription up to date without any influence of pharmacists. All in all, it can be said that in order for pharmacists to start using e-prescription smoothly, in most cases they themselves delved into the instructions received. It shows the lack of inclusion (meetings, training, surveys) in the company. Employees with less work experience in comparison to those with more work experience, are less noticeable of change in pharmacies when they started to participate in the use of e-prescription. They usually point out that in collaboration with doctors or colleagues they could be more involved in the improvement process of e-prescription rather than by fixing the areas for improvement of the system themselves. Most pharmacists indicate that they could be mostly involved into the improvement of e-prescription system by extending prescriptions for patients with chronic diseases in pharmacies if a doctor indicates that it can be done. Pharmacists agree that inclusive factors such as training, ensuring confidentiality, higher salary or a greater job satisfaction would encourage them to be more involved into work processes – the improvement process of e-prescription. Pharmacists almost unambiguously agree that by engaging in work processes, they themselves develop personally. Key words: electronic health services, electronic prescription, employee involvement, employee inclusion, improvement of electronic prescription.
