Abstract [eng] Due to the insufficient recognition and diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is difficult to provide psychological treatment to people with PTSD. Therefore, it is important to strengthen the competence of mental health professionals in working with people who have experienced psychological trauma. The aim of this study was to assess the changes in mental health specialists' perceived readiness to work with clients who have experienced psychological trauma and the associated factors before and after participation in psychotraumatological assessment training. The study used a demographic questionnaire, the specialists' perceived readiness to work with clients who have experienced trauma was assessed before and after participation in the training using the Readiness to Work with Trauma-Exposed Patients Scale (RTEPS), and the specialists' depression and anxiety were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-4). A total of 164 mental health specialists participated in the study, of which 158 (96.3%) were women, 5 (3%) were men, and 1 (0.6%) were "other". The age of the participants ranged from 24 to 73 years (M = 42.21; SD = 11.10). The results showed that after participating in psychotraumatological assessment training, 52.4% of mental health specialists significantly increased their perceived readiness to work with clients who have experienced trauma. Changes in mental health specialist competence were associated with participation in previous psychotraumatological training, but not with specialists' expressed depression or anxiety symptoms or work experience.
