Abstract [eng] Most effective preventive method for inherited breast cancer is prophylactic mastectomy, significantly reduces breast cancer risk by 90%. Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which raises risk for breast cancer. During this surgical operations, the overall goal is to maximize amount of breast tissue to be reduced. Full breast tissue removal is technically impossible due to high risk of postoperative complications and bad breast reconstruction aesthetic results. Usually, prophylactic mastectomy affects patient’s psychological and physical status, daily social life. To ensure best aesthetic look and reduce negative psychological and physical impact, breast reconstruction is performed at the same surgical operation. Breast reconstruction can be performed using heterologous, implant and expander based method or autologous, flap based method. Prophylactic mastectomy with breast reconstruction significantly reduces breast cancer risk by 90% and ensures a good aesthetic result.
