Abstract [eng] Short substantiation: The incidence of type 2 diabetes is increasing. Studies by various researchers show that diabetes affects the development of bladder cancer. It is worth finding out what the incidence risk of bladder cancer is among people with type 2 diabetes. The aim of the research: To investigate the risk of bladder cancer among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Tasks: 1. To estimate the incidence of bladder cancer in Lithuania between 1998 and 2015 years. 2. To determine the risk of bladder cancer among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: Data from the Lithuanian National Cancer Registry 1998-2015 and the National Health Insurance Fund were used to analyse the risk of bladder cancer among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Risk indicators for incidence were calculated using the indirect standardisation method. Results: When the risk of bladder cancer was calculated among type 2 diabetics, an increased risk of bladder cancer was observed in the general population of type 2 diabetics, with an SIR=1.15 (95%CI 1.02-1.29). There was no statistically significant risk of bladder cancer between genders. Age at diagnosis of type 2 diabetes affects the risk of bladder cancer. The increased risk of bladder cancer with type 2 diabetes mellitus is highest in patients aged 50-59 years in the general sex group (SIR=1.31 (95% CI 1.01-1.70)), in men aged 60-69 years (SIR=1.26 (95% CI 1.02-1.55)), and in women aged 70 years and older (SIR=1.5 (95% CI 1.16-1.93)). Conclusions: A 15% increased risk of bladder cancer has been found when a person is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Patients age at the time of diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus influenced the risk of bladder cancer. The risk of bladder cancer was found to be increased in people aged 50-59 years, men aged 60-69 years, and women aged 70 years and older.
