Short justification. Numerous studies have been conducted that have found students to be malnourished. It is important to eat at the right time and in the right amounts. Proper nutritional characteristics are a very important component for sports students to achieve success in sports. Keywords: Nutrition, students, sports, food supplements, eating habits Aim of the work: To evaluate the nutrition of Vilnius University sports students. Tasks: 1. To study the peculiarities of nutrition of Vilnius University sports students. 2. To find out on the basis of which main criteria athletes of Vilnius University choose food and whether they follow the principles of healthy eating. 3. To study the use of food and sports supplements among Vilnius sports students and to compare the influence of sports supplements and healthy nutrition on sports results. 4. To study the prevalence of harmful habits among Vilnius sports students. Research methods: The study involved 92 women and 48 men. The survey used a questionnaire to determine the nutritional characteristics of Vilnius University sports students. The data of the respondents were processed and evaluated with a statistical data analysis package. The interdependence of qualitative traits was assessed by the Chi-square criterion. The significance level p was used to assess the significance of the statistical hypotheses. The difference was considered statistically significant when 𝑝 <0.05. Results and conclusions: The nutritional features of VU students do not fully comply with the recommendations of healthy eating: only 26.4%. students consumed cereal products, as many as 76.4% students consumed fruits and vegetables only 1-2 times a day, and there were also many people who did not consume fish (29.3%). Students usually ate 3 times or more (68.6%). 55% students have breakfast, and 8.6% students - do not have breakfast. 73.6% students have lunch every day and 1.4% students do not have lunch. 76.4% students dine every day. Students who play sports at VU indicated that they most often (47.9%) eat every 3-4 hours. 24.3% are always interested in the composition of food. students, and 23.6% students are not at all interested in the composition of food. The majority of students consumed sweets and carbonated beverages. 35% respondents drink an average of 2 liters of water per day. 39.3% of the students indicated that they do not take food supplements at all, and 37.1% students mentioned that they always consume. 15.7% students use sports supplements. Only 3.3% women and even 39.6% men take sports supplements. According to students, a healthy diet is more important than sports supplements for good sports performance. 52.9% respondents did not smoke, and 20% students smoke every day. 60.7% students drank alcohol 1-3 times a month. Only 20% students are completely satisfied with their diet and as many as 34.3% students are dissatisfied with their eating habits. |
