Abstract [eng] Emerging Adulthood is the stage of life between adolescence and adulthood, with a high level of health risk behaviors. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between anxiety, depression, positive mental health and health risk behaviors in emerging adults. The study included 172 individuals: 109 women (63,40 %) and 63 men (36,60 %). The age of the study participants ranged from 18 to 29 years. The following instruments were used in the study: The Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale-7, GAD-7 (Spitzer et al., 2006), Patient Health Questionnaire-9, PHQ-9 (Spitzer et al., 1999), Positive Mental Health Scale, PMH-scale (Lukat et al., 2016), Health Risk Behaviors Inventory, HRBI (Irish et al., 2012). The results showed that the involvement of emerging adults in health risk behaviors varies by gender, age, and education. The study found that anxiety is positively associated only with physical inactivity, while depression is positively associated with physical inactivity, smoking, risky alcohol use, and general health risk behavior. Meanwhile, positive mental health is negatively associated with physical inactivity and general health risk behavior. Depression, educational attainment, and gender were also found to predict involvement in some types of health risk behaviors.
