Abstract [eng] According to political philosopher Thomas Nail we now live in “the age of the migrant”. People now migrate more than ever in recorded history. European Union (EU) in last decade had a few significant migrant crises. One in 2015 - when EU had record numbers of migrants coming to it’s Southern border. This migrant crisis revealed EU’s asylum system’s problems and forced EU to react. Most people came to EU from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq because of military conflicts happening in their native countries. At the time migrant crisis mostly affected South European countries - Greece, Italy, Spain, Malta, but migrant routes reached even Balkans, Hungary, Germany and other countries. The other crisis happened in 2021 and mostly affected Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, when Belarus tried to move migrants through EU borders by force. In 2022 after Russia attacked Ukraine, EU again faced many people seeking refuge because of war. Because of so many crises it is important to understand why people migrate, the phenomenon of migration itself and because many of us learn about these crises from the media it is important to see how news of the crises where framed in the media. In this thesis crises of 2015 and 2021 are being analyzed by using two currently most popular Lithuanian news websites - delfi.lt and lrytas.lt.
