Aim: To translate and cross-culturally adapt the Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index (WOSI) into Lithuanian language and to evaluate its reliability and validity. Materials and methods: WOSI scale was translated into lithuanian using D. E. Beaton systematic ant standardized guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of self reported measures. Afterwards WOSI-LT psychometric properties were tested. 30 patients with shoulder instability that require surgical treatment were involved in this study. Patients filled in WOSI-LT, qDASH and SF-12 scales. With this Data using statistical methods we tested WOSI-LT reliability and validity. Results: WOSI-LT Cronbach‘s-alpha coeficient was 0,93, which indicates high internal consistency and excellent reliability of the scale. To determine validity of the scale, correlation was obtained between WOSI-LT and qDASH, SF-12 using Pearson‘s correlation coeficient. WOSI-LT showed moderate correlation with qDASH, Pearson‘s score was 0,62. Correlation coeficients between SF-12 physical and mental components respectively: 0,58, 0,38. Floor and ceiling effects were not observed. Conclusion: The Lithuanian version of the WOSI is a valid and reliable tool that has good correlation with original English version. It can be used in lithuanian health institutions to measure severity of the shoulder instability. |
