Abstract [eng] Introduction. Surviving Covid-19 infection could cause symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Insomnia may occur together with it or may be the residual effect. Aim of the study. To determine the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder and insomnia symptoms among COVID-19 survivors and assess their connection with the characteristics of infection. Methods. From April to October 2021, an anonymous voluntary online survey was conducted. The questionnaire consisted of 3 parts: general sociodemographic, disease-related information, to assess the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder – Event Impact Scale - Revised and severity of insomnia - Insomnia Severity Index. The data analysis was performed with Microsoft Excel and R Commander 4.1.2. The results were considered statistically significant when p value less than 0.05. Results. 25.4% of respondents had post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, 55.2% had a predisposition to insomnia and clinically significant insomnia - 30.8%. Study found a connection between the more pronounced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and the female sex (p = 0.047), poorer health status before the disease (p < 0.001); more pronounced insomnia and lower education (p = 0.029), poorer health status before the disease (p < 0.001), previously diagnosed mental illness (p = 0.043). Also, association between more serious both disorders and a more severe form of infection, longer hospital time and residual events (all p < 0.001). Conclusions. A quarter of COVID-19 survivors had post-traumatic stress syndrome, more than half predisposition to insomnia and a third had a clinically significant insomnia.
