Abstract [eng] |
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus, which began in China, quickly spread worldwide and caused a pandemic. People who have close contact with the patient, especially family members, are at greatest risk of becoming infected. The source of the infection is a sick person. Route of spread - airborne. It is not known whether pregnant women are more likely to become infected with coronavirus, but due to physiological changes in pregnant women, is it thought that they are more likely to develop the disease. There is a shortage of data to determine neonatal outcomes of COVID-19 positive mothers. Newborns of COVID-19 positive mothers usually are born healthy, of normal height and weight. Newborns are most likely to become infected with COVID-19 after birth in close contact with their mother by air-droplet transmission, but the possibility of vertical transmission cannot be ruled out. COVID-19 can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal systems disorder in newborns, also fever. Researchers even attempted to link COVID-19 maternal disease and newborns hearing problems. The clinical case confirms that COVID-19 disease in neonates with multiple congenital malformations may exacerbate their general condition, cause eating disorders, and worsen their respiratory and cardiovascular function. Newborns of COVID-19 positive mothers require frequent assessment of their condition, increased postpartum care, and it is important to follow general COVID-19 disease prevention measures while taking care of newborns. |
