Abstract [eng] This master’s thesis is designed to find out the reasons for learning or avoiding deviant behavior and the peculiarities of all this. These aspects are important in order to better understand human behavior and to find the reasons why a person learns to behave in a way that is not accepted in society and often goes beyond the limits set by law. The topic is relevant because deviant behavior affects society as a whole - both those who commit unacceptable actions and those who are in the same environment. Nor is deviation a new problem, it has been around for many years, so it just proves that the topic is relevant and significant. The aim of this thesis is to find out the reasons and peculiarities of learning and avoiding deviant behavior in a specific geographical location. The study focuses on the residents of Elektrėnai who were born in 1980-2000 and still live in Elektrėnai. This city was chosen because it is one of the youngest cities in Lithuania, which does not yet have deep-rooted traditions and this place is rich in national diversity. This age of the research subjects was chosen due to the period in which their personalities were formed – the persons whose personality formation was influenced by the period of transformation. Sources of work: scientific literature, articles, official statistics, twelve life stories of people who live in Elektrenai. In the literature review section, it was found that deviant behavior is behavior that deviates from the norms accepted in society and often violates the law or disturbs the peace of society. The theory of social learning refers to the learning of behavior by observing the behavior of other people, and this theory has four main mechanisms and the main factors on the basis of which the life story interviews of the twelve individuals surveyed were analyzed. In the empirical part of the work, it became clear that the probability of learning deviant behavior decreases when a person has a close relationship with the family, when peers are connected by common positive activities and when good social living conditions are ensured. The learning of deviant behavior is mainly encouraged by the difficulties experienced at home, the example of poor behavior shown by parents and peers with an inappropriate value base.
