Abstract [eng] The purpose of this master thesis was to explore the representations of cultural identity in the visual and textual information of computer games and to reveal the view of the gamers towards these representations as well as their content. The thesis was grounded in constructivist ideas of education, which allowed identifying recreational process (the playing of computer games) as an activity of informal education and constructively view the formation of knowledge and social stereotypes in the gaming process. The game environment was analyzed from symbolic perspective, based upon symbolic interactionism and it‘s ideas about collectivist formation and perception of common symbol sets. The research of this thesis was composed of two stages, first of which was meant for the gathering of visual and textual information from computer games and it‘s research through symbols, views and roles. Second stage of the research was composed of the implementation of semi-structured interviews and the analysis of the gathered data, using the method of qualitative content analysis. Qualitative approach in the analysis of visual and textual information, as well as interviews, was chosen for the purpose of rich description of phenomena (or opinions) as they are, in their natural environment. Interviews were conducted with the purpose of verifying whether the subjective observations of cultural identity in video games, made by the researcher, are observed and understood by the players, and how exactly each gamer perceives these manifestations.
