Abstract [eng] |
The main aim of this master thesis was to explore the impact of leadership styles on employee empowerment in global companies located in Lithuania. The Master thesis consists of three main parts: the review of scientific literature, the research and the analysis of research results as well as conclusions and recommendations. Literature analysis is also divided into three parts. First, the concept of leadership and leadership styles are discussed. Secondly, the focus is placed on the concept of employee empowerment analysis. Lastly, the relationship between leadership styles and employee empowerment is explored. After the literature analysis, the author carried out research in global business services sector. Questionnaire was presented in order to gain insights about leadership styles and employee empowerment in global companies located in Lithuania. The data obtained via questionnaire was statistically processed with the SPSS software. To test the hypothesis, correlation and regression analysis were performed. The performed research revealed the impact of various leadership style factors on employee empowerment. Generally, transformational leadership style has proved to have a positive impact on employee empowerment as opposed to laissez-faire leadership style which has a negative impact. Transactional leadership style has revealed controversial results as contingent reward had a positive impact while management by exception (active) demonstrated negative impact. The conclusions and recommendations summarize the main findings of literature analysis as well as results of the performed research. Results of the study and suggestions could be used by the companies for adapting leadership styles for employee empowerment. |
