Abstract [eng] IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING COMPANIES USING THE LEAN SYSTEM Marius BLIUJUS Paper for the Master‘s degree Quality management program Vilnius University Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Department of Management Supervisor: assistant D. Ruželė Vilnius, 2021 SUMMARY 61 pages, 4 figures, 11 tables, 113 references. The aim of the master's thesis is to analyze the impact of Lean system application for the improvement of production companies. A qualitative study was selected for this thesis. The research data was collected using a semi-structured interview, and a qualitative analysis strategy was chosen to analyze the research results. The material obtained during the interviews was reduced so as to preserve the essential content, which was further clarified, explained, certain concepts were singled out, later these data were structured - the text is filtered, divided by content, forms, topics. The main tool and core in analyzing the data obtained during the interviews is the categorization system. The data of the qualitative research were organized around the central questions, each unit of analysis was coded, categories were distinguished, and during the data analysis it was checked how much the data fit or did not fit the expected categories. The research data were presented using excerpts from interviews without editing authentic statements. The developed theoretical model of Lean system application in production organization reveals that production companies' performance measurement tools are a valuable tool that provides companies with information about system efficiency, time, output, quality, time spent and lost production sources, so companies can monitor their activities and improve their performance. activities. One of the main mistakes and reasons for the failure to implement a Lean system is the focus on tools and methods rather than enough consideration of organizational issues. Continuous improvement of the organization and improvement programs must be included in the company's strategy. After studying the situation of the Lean system in the production companies, it was established that the application of the principles and methods of the Lean system in the production companies identifies surplus activities and ensures a smoother stage of order fulfillment. The Lean system also determines the performance of the organization: better financial indicators, minimization of production costs, improved customer satisfaction. The interviews revealed that the Lean system also ensures competitiveness in the market of companies providing similar services.
