Abstract [eng] |
During the Soviet era, writers who became engineers of souls had to convey ideological information through artistic means. In Lithuanian literature, there is a lack of studies of young adult literature written during this period, and research on masculinity issues is particularly poorly developed. In this paper, masculinity is understood as socially constructed based not on the concept of sex, but on the concept of gender. The research material is conducted of six works: Vytautas Bubnys Arberonas (1969), Vladas Dautartas Jis – Kapitonas Pramuštgalvis (1970) and Žydrieji jungos (1972), Algimantas Zurba Šimtadienis (1975), Edvardas Uldukis Aštuntasis „Divonio“ jūreivis (1976) and Anelius Markevičius Lobių kalnas (1977). The aim is to reveal the concept of masculinity in the prose of Lithuanian adolescents by conducting a study of texts published for young adults during the Soviet era. This master’s thesis is a study of the history of Lithuanian literature, which seeks to highlight the models of masculinity, behaviors and tendencies. Besides, the research will help to draw attention to the importance of masculinity studies in literature. |
