The aim of the Master's thesis is to reveal the role of the leader in the process of improving the quality of the organisation and to determine the influence of the leader's role in improving the quality of the organisation. To achieve this, the following objectives were set: 1.Based on the analysis of scientific literature, to present the essence of leadership. 1.To identify the roles of a leader in an organisation. 2.To analyse the processes and models of quality improvement in an organisation. 3.Based on the European Business Excellence Model and the scientific literature, identify the impact of the leader in the quality improvement process of the organisation. 4.Through an empirical study, identify the impact of the leader's role in improving quality of an organization. The paper uses a systematic analysis approach: a systematic literature review analyses the concept of leader and leadership; identifies the leader's skills, competences and roles in the organisation; and reveals the leader's influence on the organisation's improvement process. The theoretical concept of quality and quality management; the processes of organisational quality improvement and the models and tools for organisational quality improvement are analysed. A quantitative research method was chosen for the empirical study. The method of data collection was anonymous questionnaire survey. The following data analysis techniques were used to analyse the data for the quantitative study: descriptive statistics (frequency tables, data position characteristics), tests for statistical relationships (Spearman, Pearson correlation, polynomial and univariate linear regression). Based on the results of the quantitative study, it can be concluded that the role of a leader in an organisation includes: setting the direction of the organisation; implementing the organisation's strategy; managing social and human capital resources; maintaining the organisational culture; and implementing organisational change. In assessing the role of the leader in the organisation, the role of the leader in setting the direction of the organisation is the best assessed. However, the other roles mentioned above were also moderately rated. The study also sought to assess the quality of the organisation based on the EFQM Improvement Model's capability criteria (leadership, policy and strategy, people, partnerships and resources, processes). The RADAR logic was used to compare the values of organisational quality. The overall level of implementation of the organisations' capabilities was rated moderately good. However, not all opportunities are fully exploited. Particularly noteworthy is the area of people management, which was rated weakest by respondents. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to determine the impact of the leadership role on the quality improvement of the organisation. The analysis showed that only the role of the leader in maintaining the culture of the organisation has a significant impact on the performance quality of the organisation. In contrast, the leader's role in setting the organisation's direction, implementing strategy, managing social and human capital resources and implementing change were insignificant in the multivariate regression analysis. Therefore, univariate linear regressions were carried out with each of the leadership role factors. The results of the univariate regression analyses showed a positive influence of these roles on the organisation's performance quality assessment. |
