Abstract [eng] The need for effective leaders is high these days. There is a lot of scientific debate going on that tries to answer whether leadership and management are the same, what leadership style determines a leader’s effectiveness, or whether there is a difference between women and men in leadership. As more and more women today take the helm of organizational leaders, this work focuses on how a leading woman experiences becoming a leader, from formal appointment to feeling like a leader. The study involved 6 managers (aged 28 to 53 years), the duration of leadership was 4 to 16 years. A qualitative method of phenomenological psychological analysis by A. Giorgi was used to reveal the experience of becoming leaders. The study of women becoming managers has revealed changing experiences of relationships and attitudes towards employees. Also the pursuit of self- confidence as a good manager. Managers realized they didn’t have to know everything. They were led into leadership by responsible work rather than purposeful pursuit of duties. Leadership came after a motherhood mission. Leadership is related to the male task. Leadership has little to do with self-realization. This work can be useful in contributing to the answers to what helps to lead effectively and to be a starting point for further research.
