Abstract [eng] Patients experience distress throughout various periods of cancer diagnosis and treatment, including survivorship (Holland et al., 2013). Studies of PTSD in cancer patients mostly includes women with breast cancer (Abbey et al., 2015). There is a lack of studies on the prevalence of PTSD and relationship between PTSD and psychological well-being among prostate cancer patients. This research was conducted at the National Cancer Institute. One hundred nineteen men participated in this study (mean age = 67.04). In this study to assess psychological well-being was used World Health Organization Well-Being Index (WHO-5). The Life Events Checklist (LEC) was used to assess for exposure to potentially traumatic events. The International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) was used to assess PTSD symptoms. Results: estimated prevalence rates of PTSD were 8.62%. However, 43.10% of participants met criteria for at least one symptom of PTSD. Also, PTSD was statistically significantly, negatively correlated with psychological well-being, p < 0.05. Overall, the number of men with prostate cancer have significant mental health problems and it reveals the need for psychosocial care.
