Abstract [eng] |
The main purpose of this master thesis is to determine the critical success factors for the implementation of enterprise resource planning system in a medium-sized enterprise. The thesis consists of three main parts. In the first part there is an analysis of the scientific literature on the concept of critical success factors of ERP systems. The second part is intended to justify the choice of empirical research, qualitative, semi-structured interview, and develop its methodology. The third part presents the results of the empirical research: analysis, transcribing the interview answers and coding them with specialized software, as well as recommendations for successful implementation of ERP systems in the industrial enterprise. Literature analysis reviews the concept of ERP systems, it’s development through years, the main structure that is most common in these types of systems. Also, there are described the often-encountered deployment stages, strategies, risks and critical success factors, that are compared with different author’s opinions. After the literature analysis the author analysed and justified the best-fitting methodology for this study and chose more in-depth, semi-structured interviews, as they allow to get complete and accurate respondents' responses, see reliability and data linkages, with a focus on interpretation and new insights, without departing from the study design. There were done two studies in one medium-sized manufacturing company doing 6 interviews about one ERP system implementation (which was done in 2017) and 5 interviews about another one (in 2019). The results of the study lead to suggestions for the success of the ERP system implementation: the organization must clearly state its expectations and goals before the project, avoid a parallel deployment strategy, provide management support, carry out responsible planning, identify and allocate the necessary resources to implement the project. The conclusions and recommendations summarize the main concepts of literature analysis as well as the results of the performed research. The author believes that the results of the study could give useful guidelines to the companies which are going to implement ERP systems and suggests alternatives for further research development. |
