Abstract [eng] |
The installation of shallow geothermal wells is one of the fastest growing sectors of renewable energy in Lithuania but there are almost no studies to investigate its potential. Access to privately conducted research documents by local business companies is complicated. The data which are collected in the form of reports in the Lithuanian Geological Survey, are limited and non-aggregated. For this reason is very important to do researches on this topic. This master's thesis reviews the shallow geothermal energy extraction technologies, introduces the thermal response test (TRT) and its methodology and evaluation. Using the data of TRT tests performed in Vilnius, the aim is to evaluate the geothermal potential of the city, the regularities of thermal conductivity distribution and the factors influencing its values. The territories of Vilnius city where the installation of geothermal systems may have a negative impact on groundwater were reviewed, and recommendations are provided. |
