Abstract [eng] In this work a new chromatographic system for the simultaneous separation of hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds was investigated. The proposed system is based on the serial coupling of reversed-phase and hydrophilic interaction chromatography modes. Six hydrophobic (Sudan I-IV dyes, vitamins A and K2) and six hydrophilic (vitamins B2 and B3, melamine, creatinine, tryptamine and tyramine) compounds were employed as model analytes. The effect of various parameters such as the concentration of acetonitrile and salt in the mobile phase, mobile phase pH and column temperature on the chromatographic behaviour of the analytes was evaluated and discussed. Under optimized conditions all twelve compounds were completely separated in under 12 minutes. This work demonstrates the excelent ability of dual chromatographic system to separate compounds not separated with common single chromatographic techniques.
