Abstract [eng] The object of this thesis is the Lithuanian pronoun "toks" as a member of similative category. This category is used to express certain similarities between different entities. The category consists of the English word "such" and other equivalents of this word in different languages, including Lithuanian "toks", may also be considered as members of this cross–linguistic category. These members tend to be more similar with their equivalents cross–linguistically than with other categories in their own language. The goal of this thesis is to analyze the uses and functions of the Lithuanian similative "toks" and compare them with its equivalents in other languages. The goal is achieved by two types of analyses. The first one is a contrastive analysis of a bidirectional English-Lithuanian translation corpus. By analyzing the equivalents of "toks" and "such" in translations it was possible to see that "toks" really functions as a similative – it can express similarity, its meaning involves (in)definiteness and it has adverbial, intensifying and identifying uses. "Toks" was also compared with 34 properties of the similative "such", proposed by van der Auwera and Sahoo (2015), and the analysis showed that "toks" matches 19 of the 34 properties. Some other uses of the word "toks", which are different from "such", were also analyzed and compared with equivalents in other languages and some similarities were found as well.
