Abstract [eng] This thesis analyzes the evaluative language vocabulary in interviews of a Lithuanian cultural magazine ‘Literatūra ir menas’. The aim of this thesis is to find out which evaluative language expressions were used more often by men interlocutors, female interlocutors and journalists, and also to explore what expressions were chosen more often during the evaluation. This study involves two corpuses of 50 interviews (77,000 words) with male and 50 interviews (67,000 words) with female interviewers. AntConc program was used to distinguish more common combinations of words. The research showed that both men and women interlocutors as well as journalists evaluated using both - positive and negative perspectives. The most prevailing way to evaluate was by the use of adjectives, adverbs and verbs. The evaluative language showed that men used nouns more often than women did, while women showed a tendency to use more verbal fillers. In addition, men and woman chose different expressions while using the same word (e. g., “kelti nerimą” - to raise anxiety (women) as oppossed to “kelti blogas emocijas” - to raise bad emotions (men)). Men also expressed criticism more directly than women did. The findings of this thesis could pave the way for future studies of interview genre, evaluation language and gender language studies.
