Experiencing the Attempts to Apply Mindfulness into Daily Life; researcher Agnė Antanaitytė; supervisor prof. Rimantas Antanas Kočiūnas; Vilnius University, Faculty of Philosophy; Vilnius; 2019; p. 74. The purpose of this research was to reveal how the participants of mindfulness based stress reduction program experience mindfulness in their everyday lifes after completing the program. 5 participants participated in the research: 3 women and 2 men (the average age was 34,6 years). To achieve the aim of this study, qualitative phenomenological research strategy was applied. The data was colected using the method of semi-structured interview and analysed applying the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The findings of the research indicated that a variety of mindfulness practices are applied, including formal and informal ones. The attitudes of mindfulness become part of life‘s values and viewpoint. The beneficial effects of mindfulness are displayed in various areas such as coping with stress, tension or in personal changes. However, the participants face some obstacles in applying mindfulness. The interesting finding is that despite positive outcomes and obstacles in applying mindfulness, there is a need to practice more. How to explain this need more comprehensively, what are it‘s causes and implications – these are the questions that could extend and enrich the field of mindfulness research, also, help develop the discussions about the secularization of mindfulness. |
