Abstract [eng] Psychiatrists Job Satisfaction, Work Related Stress and the Use of Stress Coping Strategies The aim of this study was to investigate Lithuanian psychiatrists job satisfaction, job related stress and their stress coping strategies. 57 psychiatrists participated in the study: 42 (73,7 %) females and 15 (26,3 %) males. The age of participants varied between 26 – 70 years old (M = 43,07, SD = 10,66). Psychiatrists work experience varied between 0,5 – 31 years (M = 14,44, SD = 10,08). Sample of this study was obtained using targeted selection. To measure job satisfaction, Job Satisfaction Survey (Spector, 1994) was used. Also we created for this study a scale to measure psychiatrists stress they experience during the job (because of specific to their job situacions/factors). To assess psychiatrists stress coping strategies, Lithuanian stress coping assessment method was used - Patobulintas keturių faktorių streso įveikos klausimynas (Grakauskas, Valickas, Želvienė, 2010). Participants of this study were also asked to answer some demografic questions. Results of this study showed, that psychiatrists are most satisfied with the nature of work and least satisfied with job organization. Males are more satisfied with their job and they experience less work related stress than females. Older psychiatrists age is related with lower experienced stress during last working week. Results also showed, that psychiatrists most often use stress coping strategies, that are related with problem solving and social support, while strategies such as avoidance and emotional discharge are not as commonly used. This study found, that psychiatrists experienced stress, related with their colleagues/boss, working conditions and patients behaviour predicts psychiatrists lower job satisfaction. Stress related with colleagues/boss is strongest predictor for lower job satisfaction among psychiatrists.
