The object of Master-thesis – the competences of human resources management in respect with knowledge management. The purpose of Master-thesis – to determine the influence of competences of human resources management on the changes occurring inside the environment of knowledge management. Upon the conduction of a theoretical study and empirical research on human resources management functions and competences related thereto, the article presents an analysis of expectations of Lithuanian organizations staff regarding competence of human resources managers, and evaluation of the attitude of the staff towards factual competences of their human resources managers. Results of the empirical research point to the difference between expectations of the staff regarding competences of their human resources manager and the attitude towards the actual competence possessed by a human resources manager of their organization. Human resources managers of the organizations surveyed much less attention than expected pay to get to know and motivate their personnel (the level of expectations circa 80 percent, whereas the factual evaluation – merely 16 percent), to settle conflicts (50 percent and 10 percent respectively). Creativity and an ability to implement innovations are attributable only to 14 percent of human resources managers, which constitutes much less than has been expected (64 percent). The actual ability of human resources managers to solve problems (merely 22 percent) succumbs immensely to the expected level (circa 90 percent of opinions). According to the questioned, the competences of human resources managers are less expressed compared to the expected level: sociability (11 percent and 78 percent), professional skillfulness and interest (24 percent and 76 percent), competence in self-development and development of others (14 percent and 70 per cent), and emotional control (10 percent and 64 percent). Notwithstanding the fact that expectations of the staff regarding competences of a human resources manager differ from evaluation of the actual competences possessed by a human resources manager of their organization, some 85 per cent of the questioned did confirm the positive impact of human resources (personnel) manager upon the staff. The organizations surveyed (n = 130) recognize the contribution of a human resources manager to the success achieved by an organization (this was acknowledged by 96 percent of the respondents). In addition, the research of competences of human resources management in respect with knowledge management has revealed that human resources managers contribute to an effective explore of employees’ knowledge capacity, which leads to the successful knowledge management. The impact of competences of human resources management on the processes occurring in the environment of knowledge management is analyzed in this work. Results of the conducted research have confirmed the assumption that the biggest concerns should be focused on an establishment of a position of human resources manager, to ensure an efficient knowledge management. This Master-thesis could provide some useful information when systems of human resources and strategies of organization are being improved in order to generate more effective manners to explore employees’ competences and to control the knowledge processes efficiently. |
