Summary The international engagements in international humanitarian law are a very important task for every country including Lithuania. Implementation of international humanitarian law is an important trial for every country because international humanitarian law can not function properly unless the affective mechanism in national level is created. This Master’s thesis is a research on how Lithuania meets international engagements in international humanitarian law – what are the measures which Lithuania take while meeting its engagements in international humanitarian law. In theoretical part of the thesis the author introduces a definition of international humanitarian law institution, discusses its historical origin and the development. Modern problems of humanitarian law implementation are introduced within the practical part of the thesis. The author analyses the regulation of punishment for international humanitarian law violation in Lithuania’s national law and the related problems. Also the major international treaties of international humanitarian law in which Lithuania takes part are discussed. |
