Abstract [eng] A study of behavioural patterns among building materials buyers in five major shopping centres which sell building materials in the city of Šiauliai was carried out in the present master thesis. The paper analysed and systematised the theoretical and practical characteristics of customer behavioural patterns and customer types described by various Lithuanian and foreign authors and identified the factors influencing the behavioural patterns among buyers. The guidelines for people buying building materials were formulated, the marketing drivers or disincentives to the customer self-determination in choosing a shopping centre were presented. Based on the customer and manager survey, conclusions were drawn and recommendations suggested which may be relevant and useful to major building materials shopping centres. The research hypothesis formulated by the author that cost, quality, and service culture have the greatest impact on behavioural patterns among building materials buyers was confirmed.
