Background. Hidradenitis suppurativa is chronic inflammation disease of skin that causes small painful lumps, abscesses under the skin, usually in the skin of axillae, inframammary, groin, perineal and perianal areas. It usually occurs after adolescence, more common in women than men. Hidradenitis suppurtiva affect not only the protective barrier of the skin, its aesthetic appearance, but also causes severe pain and discomfort. This disease has significant effects on the quality of human life. Many different treatment methods can be used to control this disease, but these methods are not always successful. Today the most effective way is immunomodulating theraphy. However, new treatments are still being sought. Aim: to analyze the literature presenting treatment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Materials and methods. The search of the literature was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar. Publications were selected using the following keywords: "Hidradenitis suppurativa", “Pathogenesis”, “Etiology”, "Epidemiology", "risk factors", "clinical manifestation", "treatment". We found 1071 publications in English language. After reviewing the titles we selected 89 publications. We rejected publications that were published more than 10 years ago and those that and those that did not meet the purpose of our article. At the end we chose and rewieved 28 publications in English, published in 2012 – 2022. Results. Currently, mild or moderate forms of hidradenitis suppurativa are treated with antibiotics and their combinations, topical ointments, and biological therapy preparations. A more severe forms can be treated with an intervention next to the systemic one. Conclusions. The analysis of the literature presents treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa and its innovations. |
