Abstract [eng] In democratic society media specialists must be impartial. Today, the subjectivity of press which is determined by political and economical consideration, merges into some kind of tendency, which is especially deleterious for media declaring freedom of speech as well as for independent and democratic country. Today the implementation of objectivity principle in press is a topical subject, especially today, when there is no clear difference between gutter and serious press. One of the most basic and important requirements – objectivity – is a must, although today usually it is confused with subjectivity. The object of Master thesis are national dailies „Lietuvos rytas“, „Respublika“, „Lietuvos žinios“, „Ekstra žinios“ and „Vakaro žinios“, their publications, headlines, cross-headings, and comments of photographs. The aim of this work is to analyse manifestation of objectivity and tendency in national newspapers and comparing the daily newspapers to investigate the ratio of bias and equity. The main tasks of work are: on the basis of different authors and sources to discuss the tendencies of Lithuanian periodical press development objectivity-wise and subjectivity-wise, to provide and analyze theoretical and real material about objectivity and subjectivity in national press, on the basis of theory to research the content of publications of national dailies’ topicality, as well as headlines, cross-headings, comments of photographs and then to assess all of this in respect of objectivity and tendency. While using literature and web based source analysis, analysis of quality content, comparative analysis and statistical methods (qualitative content) we can conclude, that in 2005 national newspapers dominated tendency publications about certain politicians, political parties or other people. While researching and comparing the subjectivity of dailies different and similar manifestations, merging into clear tendencies, it was clear the representatives of serious press were linked to be assimilated to gutter press. This is conditioned by modern-day competitive media market. Therefore as research showed in the articles of analysed press, subjectivity merged into tendency clearly overbalanced to its benefit.
