Abstract [eng] Progressing globalization and quickly changing work activity reguire to prepare a generalist but not a specialist of narrow field. It means that it is important to prepare a person which has developed transferable competences, e. g. those abilities which can be easily transfered from one activity to another and which are the basis of personal perfection, job placement, self – expression, social integration, lifelong learning and career development. Therefore it becomes important to analyze the quality of higher education understanding it as transferable competences‘ development. The main task of this research work is to analyze the quality of developed transferable competences at Vilnius university. The conception of changes of education quality in Higher Education and legal aspects of the quality of higher Education were analyzed. A modernization of study programmes as the development of educated transferable competences was disputed. After analyzing the opinions of different authors, a theoretical model of transferable competences to be developed was created. The following research methods in order to implement the main purpose were chosen: the analysis of scientific literature, the analysis of Lithuanian and international legal documents regulating the quality of Higher Education, the analysis of the content of study programmes, the questionnaire, statistical comparative analysis of data. The results of the research showed that different abilities of different competences are developed in different departments not equally. The main differences between departments of Filology and Economics were noticed. According to results we can affirm that the quality of higher education in the aspect of general competences is maintained best at the faculty of Philology. Summarizing the data of the research we can say that hypotheses were proved out or proved out just partially: • Research results proved out the hypothesis that communication competence is most developed in the faculty of Philology. Results showed that communication in native language and in foreign languages are most developed in Philology faculty. The results confirmed that intercultural competence is also developed in this faculty most of all faculties. More than 55 % of respondents answered that all abilities of this competence group are developed. • The hyphotesis was proved out partially that ability to think critically is developed at all analyzed faculties. It became clear that this ability is developed most at the faculty of Philology, cause more than half students answered positively. The faculty of Economics has the worst development of this ability, cause 65 % of all students answered negatively. • According to created theoretical model and study programme content analysis it was clarified that hyphotesis was proved out that the most evolved transferable competences at Vilnius university are scientific, digital, learning to learn and personal competences but research results confirmed the development of digital and IT competences only. This research can minister as a point of reference for a discussion about real development of conditions of transferable competences at universities. The results of this research will give an opportunity to accomplish study programmes and to improve the quality og higher education also.
