The aim of the work is to analyze the medical employees sickness absence in Vilnius outpatient clinics in 2002- 2003. Methodology. Analyzing the medical employees sickness absence in outpatient clinics in 2002- 2003 the cases of sickness and sick leaves were taken down from the sick notes of health care institutions in the Public Health Institute of Medical Department of Vilnius University. The statistical analysis of data was performed in MS Excel 2003 and WinPepi programs. To find out the standardized sickness correlation the direct standardization method was used. It was standardized according to the age. The sickness dependence upon the sex, age and profession was evaluated according to chi-squared test and Student's test. Comparing the indexes of sickness in the age groups the difference was concerned to be important if p< 0,05. The results and conclusions. The standardized sickness indexes of medical staff in Vilnius outpatient clinics were 45, 6 cases and 591, 8 sick leave day to 100 workers. Comparing to all Lithuanian workers it was 1, 2 time more according to number of cases and 1,5 time more according to duration (p< 0,001). The diseases of respiratory system (45% of all cases), cardiovascular system (10%), skeleton- muscle system (9,5% ) were prevailing among the medical staff. The sickness indexes of medical women were 49,6 cases and 564,6 sick leave day to 100 workers. Medical women fall ill 1,9 times more and 1,7 times longer than medical man (χ²=9,913, p=0,002) and 1,1 times more than nurses (χ²=4,671, p=0,031). Nurses fall ill 1,7 times more than medical man (χ²=6,521, p=0,011). The sickness with the diseases of cardiovascular system and tumors are increasing with the age. |
