Abstract [eng] The object of this work is the linguistic attitudes of hearing and deaf people. The goal of the work is to discuss the linguistic attitudes and the semantic content of the world-view of the member of mentioned communities. In order to succeed, the four part questionnaire was formed. In the beginning of the research there was hypothesized that the linguistic consciousness and world-view of deaf people is different from the linguistic consciousness and world-view of hearing people. It should be noted that the sign language is the established native speech of the deaf, that it why they are considered as bilinguar. It is pointed that the linguistic identity of the deaf is variegated, because on the one part they are members of Lithuanian sign language, on the other part they are members of Lithuanian language. When the research was accomplished, it emerged that the deaf consider themselves bilinguar and they own both sing language and Lithuanian as native languages. The deaf respondents qualify the written and verbal discourse in context of practical point, which means that it is a way of learning more words and integrating into society. The research has showed that the linguistic world-view depends on linguistic environment and experience of the user of the language. It has also emerged that the repertoire of linguistic means of the deaf and hearing people is partly different. The hearing people’s lexis is richer and their world perception is metaphorical. The research has revealed that the deaf consider the elements of the linguistic world-view (metaphor, phraseological, slang and proverb) directly. The deaf deliberately do not metaphorisize their language, as they try to avoid ambiguity.
