The survey has been organized in sanatorium classes of N lower secondary school, which have been established in N Children rehabilitation division of the branch of Children Hospital of Vilnius University Hospital Santariškės Clinics. After empirical research the main conclusions have been formulated and presented in the thesis: 1. General education school and the Committee of a Child’s Welfare are formally responsible for training and educational support in sanatorium classes. Practically the needs of children training and self-training are solved by teachers and specialists, who work in sanatorium classes, and individual training and self-training plans are approved by the doctors, who work in medical rehabilitation division. 2. Children study in sanatorium classes for a very short period, therefore, pedagogues and specialists have to identify children needs or training difficulties, behaviour, and social problems very quickly, appropriately and coherently. It is difficult for the children to adapt and properly reveal in a new environment during a short period. In order to know children better and appropriately satisfy their training needs, teachers and specialists of sanatorium classes try to involve parents into this process to work in a team with other specialists, and maintain relations with a constant training institution. 3. Parents positively evaluate a possibility for their children to receive additional medical help, continuation of training and better grades. Sanatorium classes lack logopedia, psychology, surdopedagogical and tiphlopedagogical assistance. Part of the services of the mentioned specialists is provided by medical rehabilitation division. 4. Teachers of various training subjects and specialists, who work in sanatorium classes keep close relations, based on mutual cooperation. Generally, various issues of training and problematic situations of children with special training needs are solved together. Cooperation ensures quality continuation of training and educational support. 5. The main communication motives in sanatorium classes are to identify a student‘s skills or difficulties and appropriately harmonise issues of continuation of training or educational support. In pedagogical practice of sanatorium classes cooperation with parents is usually formal, therefore, it has to be reinforced. |
