Abstract [eng] The subject of knowledge management has gathered a lot of interest in the corporate sectors. Although there is no commonly agreed upon definition of knowledge management, organizations are demonstrating an increasing interest in the topic and start having problems to develop knowledge management as a process. It causes the input that the knowledge environment in which companies must function today is much more complex. Organizations face enormous demands because of the explosive growth in knowledge, its short lifespan and the increasingly knowledge – intensive nature of all management processes. To survive and compete in the knowledge society, organizations must learn to manage their intellectual assets, accept the challenge of knowledge management and recognize the fundamental importance of knowledge as a resource. All this makes knowledge management a topical issue, which must be analysed not just at theoretical, but also at practical level. The aim of this paper is to analyse the role of knowledge management in modern organization. For this purpose, a concrete organization is taken, which is researched according to its strategy priorities, knowledge management processes and the enviroment for knowledge management development. Research methods of SWOT analysis and questionaire were used. The analysis helps better to measure the importance and the influence of knowledge management for organization’s effectiveness and competitiveness. It also shows the main problems that block the successful development of knowledge management. The work consists of three main parts: the analysis of literature on modern society and knowledge economy and the knowledge manadement as an object and process also, the research and its results. The author has created methodology for evaluation of enviroment for knowledge management development in organisation which helps to identify the knowledge management processes and enviroment situation which needs to improve. In the end of the work there are conclusions and recommendations. This work can be useful for managers of variuos type of modern organizations. This work consists of 42 sources of literature, 9 tables, 10 graphs bei 22 pictures.
