Abstract [eng] Never before in Lithuania the relation between the processes of book adapting and publishing was analysed. Publishing Houses and Films Companies in foreign countries have a sustained practice of cooperation while in Lithuania these are still quite different ranges. Publishers do not make use of the potential of film produce. Therefore a film and a book is a mutual advertisement and promotion. The consequence of this process is not valued enough. The joint processes of screening, adaptation and publishing in foreign countries, the lack of these processes in Lithuania, the synthesis betweeen literature and cinema are analysed in this work. The object of the master’s work is the joint processes of screening, adapting and publishing in Lithuania and other countries. The purpose is to analyse the ways of advertising and promoting the screen adapted books and to offer suggestions to Lithuanian publishers. Work tasks are to discuss the development and importance of screen adapting in foreign countries, to analyse book’s influence to the popularity of the film and film’s to the book, to overlook the advertising processes of screen adapted books in other countries, to dispute the most popular and influential to publishing adaptations, to measure the number of adaptations in Lithuanian cinema, to analyse the position of Lithuanian publishers to the potential of advertising adapted books, to explore the points of publishing adapted books in Lithuania, to offer suggestions to Lithuanian publishers in order to promote and advertise the adapted books and other connected with cinema. By using theorical methods: comparative method, the method of generalization, the analysis of literature and other repositories and empirical methods: the analysis of documents, the method of observation, conversation, unstructured interview, the following results were achieved. The publishers in other countries advertise and promote the adapted books in nearly all possible ways. The series of national and foreign adapted novels, special periodical with information about adapted books are published, special actions and presentations are taking place, many other ways of advertising are used. The series of adapted books are exhibited in international book-fairs, special forums of cinema and literature, during which publishers can get all the information about the new literature connected with cinema, adapted and target books for adaptation, books written according to a films, screenplays, etc. It is also possible to buy copyright of these books in such forums. Neither of these processes proceed in Lithuania, that is why this work was written – to take notice of unused potentiality in publishing. The ways of advertising and promoting the screen adapted books were analysed and the suggestions to Lithuanian publishers were offered with the hope the well known process in the other countries to start in Lithuania.
