Small and medium business development issues in the municipality of Pakruojis district are examined in Master's work. Small and medium business concept, the legal framework, the prospects in small towns, the form and directions of its support are reviewed in the theoretical part of master’s work. Specific problems faced by entrepreneurs starting their own business, have been investigated in the work. The study showed that entrepreneurs in the municipality of Pakruojis district are facing a variety of financial problems, finding suitable work premises and labor force and legal and administrative requirements. The obstacles that hampered the development of small and medium business were explored in Master's work. The main obstacles are lack of qualifications of staff, insolvent or late paying customers, staff maintenance costs, lack of management competence, corrupt governmental institutions. Practical part of the work was to determine the prospects for small and medium business in the municipality of Pakruojis district. It appears that this kind of business has a potential to grow in the agricultural sector, tourism, and create a corresponding service network in rural areas. The formulated scientific hypothesis, that small and medium business in the municipality of Pakruojis district cannot fully uptake the support provided by the state because of lack of information and bureaucratic obstacles, has been confirmed. |
