Academic library – the scientific information and media center. By Diana Garmutė. Institute of librarianship and information sciences, Faculty of Communication, Vilnius University. The library services offered by the abundance and diversity is determined by the library called information and communication and media center. It controls and distributes the information is like an intermediary between knowledge and people, so in order to clarify the role of academic libraries academic community, it is important to analyze issues related to the information communication process and the knowledge society, which is the medium, which is an intensive exchange of information and development. Master's destination - the academic library. The aim - to examine the role of academic libraries of scientific information communication and learning and media center services in context. Job tasks: 1. Analyze literary sources, the definition of academic libraries functions, users, information and communication of scientific concepts and processes in the academic library, the identification of "media" use the concept of the problem and context; 2nd To analyze the role of academic libraries in the information society; 3rd Conduct a study – the internet site of Vilnius University Library analyze. An analysis of the academic library's role in the information society, it transpired that academic libraries have a media literacy educator's role in the community. An analysis of the services found in media centers and learning centers internet sites, revealed the media center, as a conveyor of information and custodian of the information literacy educators, the creator of new information, using new information technologies and the role of the media, which holds an important place in the communication process between the media center and the academic community. This master‘s paper is important for it’s originality, because there is no media or learning centers in Lithuania’s academic libraries and the findings of the research can help in creating a Lithuanian media centers, especially in Vilnius University Library, because it was analyzed in the role of media and learning center. |
