Abstract [eng] Environment Impact Assessment can be described as evaluation process of impacts of human activities on environment. Ecological Impact Assessment provides more particular analyze of effects on living organisms& biodiversity. The procedures of Assessment are regulated by EU and Lithuanian laws, which slightly differ in structure and requirements. Hence the outputs of biodiversity impact assessment of road schemes were analyzed in order to identify existing gaps in the assessment methods. Recent development trends of ring roads of major cities in Lithuania and railways reconstruction results in habitat fragmentation, species disturbance, visual intrusion and other negative effects on environment. The study results show that there is still a huge lack of appropriate knowledge and methods for impact evaluation. The recommendations for improved impact assessment are based on the experience of UK authors.
