Abstract [eng] The master subject is „Tradition and Exellence“, it is a Book Art studio for encouraging artistic bookbindery and leather craft development in today‘s society. Upholding the traditions of leather craft it is strived to encourage the society to look at the book as at one of the most significant humankind culture heritage, to motivate to follow this area, to study unique bookbindery techniques. The project of the Book Art studio consists of prepared furniture facility project, where bookbinders‘ work places are made, and a two part composition on the wall, which is aimed to give a sense for the Book Art subject. In creating the composition the extant antique engravings, today‘s lithuanian and european bookbindery craftmen works, instruments of work and environment were used. The Book Art studio project „Tradition and craftsmanship“ is realized in restored Zubovai palace basement room, in Šiauliai University Faculty of Arts. Historical surrounding is proper for the studio, which could be used not only as a study and practice center, but also as a one of the sectors to form Šiauliai University image. The Book Art and it‘s environment creation is very important in nowadays modern culture context, therefore it is essential to represent the society with the history using modern means.
