Excitation Energy Transfer and Non-photochemical Quenching in a Fluctuating Photosynthetic Antenna In this research, we investigated energy transfer in photosystem II, which is responsible for light harvesting and charge separation during photosynthesis. Many different theoretical models were proposed, but failed to fully explain behavior of these systems as seen from experiments. Thus we proposed a new model, which includes stochastic properties of photosynthetical antenna: fluctuating bond strength between complexes, as well as randomly appearing excitation traps in light-harvesting antenna. Results from our model showed that these effects are sufficient to perfectly explain fluorescence experiments. |
