Abstract [eng] Imperfection of vision, as the sensory system, allows us to explore the details of the visual image processing principles, processing path in the brain, structure of the sensory system. Therefore, illusions, especially geometric optical illusions, research helps us to extend the knowledge of the structure of the sensory systems and their use in finding and developing new biomedical solutions. The aim of this master thesis is to check the assumption of influencing factors of vertical – horizontal illusion summations, changing the relative position of vertical and horizontal lines of stimulus with lines and dots. First, a brief review of the structure of visual sensory system and principles of image processing is presented. Second, the theory of occurrence and explanation of the geometrical illusions and classification of the geometric illusions is reviewed. Thirdly, the equipment and methodology of psychophysical experiment is presented. The psychophysical study of vertical – horizontal illusion was performed. Regularities of vertical – horizontal illusion in various kind of stimulus and their orientations investigated. Regularities of vertical and horizontal lines difference of perception length dependence of the vertical line position on the horizontal line and the horizontal line position on the vertical line in various kind of stimulus and stimulus orientation established. Theoretical model adjusted to results of psychophysical study. The influencing factors of vertical – horizontal illusion, regularities of influencing factors summation and dependencies of lines position in stimulus with lines and dots established.
