Methods: 1209 students were questioned in an approach of anonymous survey, as well as 1150 of their parents and 684 teachers from 28 Lithuanian schools. Respondents were classified into different respondents groups of small towns and cities. For data analysis Stata12, Microsoft Excel 2010 programs were used. To evaluate the statistical significance of differences between categorical variables Pirson Chi square was used as well as Fisher’s exact test when the expected values in a cell of a contingency table are below 5. Logistic regression models were created, from which odds ratio were received and calculated 95 % of confidence intervals. The difference was considered statistically significant when p<0,05. Results and conclusions: Approximately one third of students, about 70 % of teachers, one third of parents from group I and one quarter of parents from group II participate in the process of health promotion. For children a chance of participation increases attending HPS, for teachers – teaching other subjects and working at HPS, for parents – living in the countryside and choosing a school that belongs to HPS. The biggest part of the teachers and parents who participate in the process of health promotion attend the events and help to organize them. The majority of the children involved in the process also help to organize events. The most of all groups’ respondents of all community members evaluate their participation well or excellent. It was identified that knowing that the school is HPS is significantly relative to students’ residence in the group of cities; while in the group of small towns it is related to parents’ gender and age. It was ascertained that knowledge of the conception of HPS is significantly relative to teachers’ age and students’ residence in the group of cities. Knowledge of other factors was not significantly relative neither in the parents’ group nor students’. Keywords: health promotion, health promoting schools, participation in health promotion. |
