Abstract [eng] The final thesis analyses the concept of eating disorders and physical activity. The following two hypotheses are formulated: ● the girls from general education schools state that they do not have eating disorders, however they have symptoms of eating disorder-specific characteristics; ● the knowledge of the girls of general education schools about the eating disorders are sufficient, however the schoolgirls are not sufficiently physically active. By the means of questionnaire survey the research was carried out. The aim of the research is to determine the prevalence of eating disorders among girls (of 14-19 years old). Statistical data analysis is performed. The empirical part of the work deals with general education students’ leisure interests, attitudes toward food and their appearance, students' knowledge on eating disorders and their physical activity. 198 schoolgirls from general education schools participated in the research. The research has conveyed that 7% of the respondents are suffering from eating disorders. The research data have been compared: the girls suffering from eating disorders and the ones who are not suffering from eating disorders. The most important conclusions of the empirical research are as follows: ● The analysis of empirical data has revealed that the majority of schoolgirls, including the ones suffering from eating disorders and the ones who are not, are dissatisfied with their appearance or not always satisfied. ● The respondents reconcile their hobbies (friends, going for sports, and reading of books). ● More than half of all respondents are aware of eating disorders, their symptoms and consequences. ● The majority of the girls of general education schools are not sufficiently physically active; however, if comparing the girls suffering from eating disorders and the ones who are not, we may see clear differences. The majority of respondents suffering from eating disorders consider themselves to be physically active, while the majority of the respondents who are not suffering from eating disorders do not consider themselves to be physically active. The research hypotheses were supported: ● the girls from general education schools state that they do not have eating disorders, however they have symptoms of eating disorder-specific characteristics; ● the knowledge of the girls of general education schools about the eating disorders are sufficient, however the schoolgirls are not sufficiently physically active.
