The aims of this work are as follows: to evaluate the development of information society in Lithuania, to make an analysis and compare the main indexes in information society development area between EU countries and Lithuania and propose the suggestions for further information society development. The conclusions of this work are as follows: Lithuania has to put a lot of efforts and money in order to fulfill the aim to reach the average of EU countries till 2015 year. There are a lot of areas where the average is very low comparing to EU average (Percentage of households having access to the Internet at home; Percentage of households with broadband access; E-commerce etc.) But there are also some high indexes - percentage of individuals regularly using the Internet, subscriptions to cellular mobile services is high according to EU average. Lithuania has a lot of strengthens and opportunities to reach the goal. A very important thing is that Lithuania has the main strategic documents accepted that are equal to the main EU strategic documents in information society development area. In order to fasten the information society development, Lithuanian government has to develop the IRT infrastructure, educate the citizens how to use the ICT and get the benefit. The e-services have to be developed more quickly, and Lithuanian content has to be developed more in order to save Lithuanian language and culture. Also a very important thing is to reduce the migration of IT specialists to other countries. There are some suggestions in this master work stated, that could help to develop the information society.
