Abstract [eng] The feast of Corpus Christi reached Lithuania in XV century and became extremely popular in XVII century. This popularity can be explained as successful effort of Jesuits to animate the cult of Mary and Eucharist, which was weakened during Reformation. Corpus Christi processions in Vilnius is structured and stylized expression of ritual, the act which stretches the daily round, which connects and educates all community. Also it shows the seek of Catholic Church to root into the thought of catholic community the belief of presence of Christ in Eucharist, etc. The most effective means to engage and fascinate people was visual expression of that belief. The background of visual expression of it and effort to unify the community was demonstration and motion – two segments of Corpus Christi procession. In Corpus Christi procession the Eucharist is demonstrated. Theory of social body “building” lets us to expand understanding of Corpus Christi procession and speak about it from sociological perspective (about meaning of body in particular). Eucharist is carried out into the public space and its meaning is expressed through the circuitry motion – that was the way to sacralize the space, to overcome the Other (i.e. protestants).
