Abstract [eng] Book series „Lithuanistic Library“ (1966-2001) is the first follow-up lithuanistic heritage publishing project. This project is important because it was a major work, which represented lithuanian language and literature, historical monuments and the old lithuanian writings translations into lithuanian language. Series saved cultural and spiritual legacy of documentary heritage, which reflects the lithuanian nation and identity, and is necessary to preserve. Series edition had bold ambition and hopes. Unfortunately, „Lithuanistic Library“ did not receive a more thorough scientific research until now. Linguistics, literature, culture or publishing historians are not interested about it. Thus, the chosen theme is innovate work. The last book of series left in 2001, so it is unclear whether the series is terminated or standstill. The object of this scientific work is 32 „Lithuanistic Library“ publications issued from 1966 till 2001. The aim is to analyse the publishing project „Lithuanistic Library“ (1966-2001) and to determine it’s importance in Lithuanian publishing history. The object is to clarify series publishing circumstances, to analyse the content and repertoure of the series by thematic, chronological, genre and other aspects, to investigate the activeness of ,,Lithuanistic Library“ publishing in 1966-2001, to set texualistic series preparation principles and objectives, to evaluate the quality of series books in this period and their suitability to carry out the functions assigned to. The documental method of analysis of content and analytical critical analysis of the literature has been used to evaluate the series publications. Also, having concluded the results gained by the experts of the field it became clear that ,,Lithuanistic Library” publishing doesn’t have analogues so far. This project was not only capital work, but also the struggle for Lithuanian culture and statehood. Although the series was allowed without a more coherent system, but it preserved Lithuanian language and literature, historical monuments and the old Lithuanian writings. Many of them were published for the first time in this series. It didn‘t published more. Perspectives to resume ,,Lithuanistic Library“ publishing are misty. But the extention of series tradition can be XX century beggining or interwar period lithuanian writing‘s publishing. It needs not only highly qualified and experienced specialists, but and state financial suport. Lithuanian Literature and Folklore institute, The Lithuanian institute of History or private publishing houses could continue this lithuanistic heritage publishing project. All the more, funds, which are invested in the heritage book publishing programs, have special long-term value. On another hand, heritage publishing is not profitable publishing field. That‘s why publishers can deny from such plans.
