Abstract [eng] The topic of the present master’s graduation work is A Comparative Analysis of the Lithuanian and Latvian Legislation Governing Pecuniary Liability of Employees. Latvia was chosen as a state for comparing as it has similar historical experience – after regaining it’ s independence, just as Lithuania did, it had to create a new legal framework to comply with altered economic situation. The purpose of employees’ pecuniary liability institute is to protect violated interests of an employer and to indemnify it’s losses suffered due to unlawful actions or breach of duty by an employee. Employees’ pecuniary liability institute, it’ s preconditions, conditions for applying the liability, as well as separate types of employees’ pecuniary liability, procedures for indemnity calculation and compensation of damages are comparatively studied in this graduation work. It was aspired to identify problems in legislation and practical application of employees’ pecuniary liability issues, as well as to present proposals regarding corrections of legal deficiencies and improvement of legislation to the legislator in the present graduation work.
