The object of this Master Thesis is creativity in organizational context. The target of this research is to analyze the possibility to apply creativity in organizational activities. Main tasks of this work are to analyze the understanding of individual creativity and possibilities to explore it; define the understanding of organization and describe main types of modern organizations; compare research models of creativity in organizations; identify main factors, which encourage creativity in organizations, and to create new research model; measure creativity in Lithuanian organizations by applying new model. After literature review and application of qualitative research method – interview – it was came to the conclusion that creativity is one of the organization‘s success factors, so it necessary to create an environment, which would encourage creativity. Review of literature showed that phenomenon of creativity could be understood differently: as a result of activity, as an ability, as individual feature, as a process and as a system of several different factors. The main factors of working environment, which are associated with creativity, are management, motivation, resources and organizational culture. The main problem is that different authors categorizes and interprets factors, which influence creativity, differently. Thus grouping them is quite confusing. The model of factors, which encourages creativity, was created based on literature review. The model consists of three wide elements: organizational encouragement, management/executive encouragement, support of work group. Organizational encouragement factors are related to flexible, flat, decentralized organizational structure and environment of organization. Management/executive encouragement factors are related to management/executive support and motivational and resource decision making. Support of workgroup factors is associated with creative working environment, promotion of working in groups and application of various creative thinking techniques. Primary model results of factors, which encouraging organizational creativity, leads to believe that it could be useful when determining status of creativity in organization. Referring to three components (organizational, management/executive, work group) it is possible to evaluate each factor and to determine weaknesses and strengths. Furthermore it is possible to identify factors, which needs to be perfected. It is also possible to compare beneficial factors of creativity for different organizations based on this model. |
