Summary Viktorija Jefimovaitė Influence of [PSI+] Prion on Cell Wall Structure of the Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae In this work the influence of [PSI+] prion on the action of K1, K2 and K28 killer toxins over the cells of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was determined. In studies of resistance to toxins secreted by killer yeast strains it was shown that R+N and 43/1 strains are sensitive to K1, K2 and K28 killer toxins. It should be pointed out that the sensitivity of the parent R+N strain to K2 toxin is higher than the sensitivity of 43/1 strain. In the case of isolated eliminants of these strains K2 toxin forms largest lysis zones. These observations lead to assumption that in the case of eliminants of the strains R+N and 43/1, receptors are not modificated and interact with K2 toxin. The action of killer toxins over prionised [PSI+][PSI-] strains differ from non-prionised [PSI+][psi-] strains: in the case of NB13-, R+N and 43/1 strains, K2 toxin does not form lysis zones. In the case of R+N strain the influence of K28 toxin depends on the variant of [PSI+] prion. In the presence of [PSI+] prion, R+N strain is resistant to the influence of K1 killer toxin. |
